The Data Center Electrician is responsible for installing and repairing electrical control and wiring related to the facilities such as hosted machines, lighting, and ventilation systems etc.
To perform in this role, you need a valid Electrical Contractor Class II license in Georgia. Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, electricians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must also be experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems.
The focus of this position is to produce and maintain well-functioning electrical connections to minimize the probability of accidents and maximize the usability of electricity in all facilities.
• Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
• Install, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, lighting, alarm, security, and cooling systems.
• Perform general electrical maintenance, ensure regulations are met and the environment are maintained by the standards.
• Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions, repair and replace damaged units, electrical wiring, or fixtures.
• Inspect and maintain transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
• Ensure all visitors to the facilities follow all health and safety regulations and protocols.
• Flexible for emergency on-call and shift work including midnights, weekends.
• Help create and/or provide feedback on Data Center procedures.
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
• Valid Electrical Contractor Class II license in Georgia.
• Proven experience as an electrician.
• Deep electrical system, power generation, blueprints, maintenance, and repair knowledge.
• Hands-on experience of various test equipment, electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter, etc.).
• Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
• Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work shifts and overnight.
• Persistent and self-motivated, proactive to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to meet demanding time constraints.
• Ability to conduct and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Individual contributor and is not responsible for leading or supervising others.
• High level of flexibility and responsiveness is required and work beyond standard hours might occur.
• Problems and situations are different and require interpretation. Use of judgment is required to identify the most appropriate solution from several options using prior knowledge and experience.
• Working within a server room environment. Potentially high ambient background noise.
• Occasional physical lifting required. Lifting and moving around machines with a typical weight of 30 pounds and/or other accessories.
